<p>The Pine Creek Watershed Coalition is a group of stakeholders committed to improving the health of the Pine Creek watershed.  The Pine Creek watershed flows into the Allegheny river in southwestern Pennsylvania adjacent to the city of Pittsburgh<span class="para">. Coalition participants include members of environmental organizations, sportsmen’s groups, and business interests, as well as elected officials, municipal staff, and volunteers. </span></p>
<h2><span class="bold" style="font-size: 16px">Its Objectives</span></h2>
<p><span class="para" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The objectives of the Coalition are to:</span></p>
<ul style="font-size: 11px">
<li class="para" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Monitor the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of the watershed;</li>
<li class="para" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Promote environmentally and economically sound land use;</li>
<li class="para" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Educate watershed residents about the importance of a healthy Pine Creek.</li>
</ul>
<h2><span class="bold" style="font-size: 16px">Its Location</span></h2>
<p><span class="para">Pine Creek drains into the Allegheny River just north of Pittsburgh. Its watershed drains parts of 14 different municipalities: Etna, Shaler, Hampton, Richland, Pine, Marshall, Bradford Woods, Franklin Park, McCandless, Ross, O’Hara, Indiana, Fox Chapel, and Sharpsburg.</span></p>

<h2><strong class="bold" style="font-size: 16px">Its History</strong></h2>
<p class="para" lang="en-US">Coalition members served as Steering Committee members for the<a href="uploads/Pine_Creek_Plan.pdf"> </a><a href="http://pinecreekwpa.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/Pine_Creek_Plan.pdf">Pine Creek Watershed Assessment, Protection and Restoration Plan</a>. (NOTE: this is a large file that may be slow to download.  <a href="http://get.adobe.com/reader/">Acrobat Reader</a> is required.) When the Plan was published in 2005, Steering Committee members decided to continue meeting as the Pine Creek Watershed Coalition and work to implement the recommendations from the Plan.</p>
